The Secret to True Happiness

What would it take to make you happy, to give you true happiness? A thriving business, a fulfilling career, the perfect significant other or a large bank account? What if it didn’t take anything to make you happy? What if you could experience happiness from the inside out — no matter what is going on in your life?.

True happiness happens from the inside out.

Being happy for no reason is the key to everything in life.  Really.

True happiness does not come from outside sources– as much as we are all conditioned throughout our lives, happiness does not come from wealth, material items, things you have, control over others, fame, or being ‘better’ or ‘stronger’ than anyone else…

True happiness comes from within yourself.

It sounds so simple, and yet it’s so rarely realized.

My daughter is the best example of true happiness that I’ve ever seen– she truly is happy for no reason.  No matter what’s happening— either to her or to everyone else around her– she maintains a smile and hug and a big “I Love You!” for everyone.   Rarely, you will glimpse a tiny frown… (as seen in her picture here…), but it lasts only a moment, and it is soon replaced by giggles and hugs.   I’m sure only being 3 years old helps with the happiness scale…  but just watching her helps me realize the power we all have within.

The single most powerful tool I’ve found for helping me find my happiness from within is that of taking responsibility for the way I feel.  This includes taking responsibility for every aspect of my life.    I have to admit that there are times that I really have to work hard at it– realizing that I don’t have to look to anyone else or any outside situation to make me feel happy (or unhappy) has made a world of change in my outlook on life and on my happiness level.

You are responsible for your happiness or unhappiness and whether you know it or not, no one else has the power to make you unhappy or happy unless you give it to them.

Keep that power yourself.

Hugs–

Two Reasons Why Home Business Success is Elusive to Successful Professionals

Why is it that in the entrepreneurial world, there are so many determined, intelligent, creative, confident and successful professionals struggling to make their own businesses successful?

I found myself wondering why… why do these people have such a difficult time with their own home businesses?  These people are extremely successful in their education and careers, and yet, they flounder and fail with their own business.

After struggling with this issue initially myself, I think I have figured out the two main reasons why…

Being successful in your own business, whether its network marketing/direct sales or something similar, requires:

1) entirely different skills and proficiencies from the corporate world, and

2) an entirely different mindset from the corporate world.

These are two things that I have really had to work on, on a daily basis, to get myself out of the ‘job’ mode/mentality and into the true entrepreneur mode and mentality.  And once I accomplished that, I started finding success.

1) Professional v. Entrepreneurial Skills

Typically, in order to succeed in a profession, you must develop a specific specialty or area of expertise.  Usually, there is only one main area of expertise required for success in a job or career.  It’s the one thing that someone has been trained in and/or gone to school for, and excels at, and it is why they are hired.

They tend to remain in that profession, and as they do, they improve in their job performance and their skills, and the goal is to eventually be promoted.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen far too many instances where someone was excelling at their specific job, and when they were promoted, they struggled.  Especially if the promotion bestows upon them more management responsibilities.  While they may have been quite capable of successfully doing their specific skill, they were not experienced in a managerial role, and they didn’t have the necessary skills to succeed as a manager and leader.

I’ve found that when many of these successful professionals choose to start their own home businesses, they run into the same problem.

They step into a world that they have no experience with… they are bright, intelligent and capable of figuring things out… but they become overwhelmed by the enormity of everything involved with owning their own business and making it successful.

There are so many factors and facets involved in owning a business, and these professionals (myself included in the beginning) don’t have a clue how to go about getting those things done.  Running your own business requires you to be a manager,  assistant, accountant, payroll director, technical support person, and so many more rolls…

And that is precisely the reason that I moved away from the idea of being a life coach and the coach business model, which involved me doing so many of those things, and into the network marketing business model… where the majority of those functions are actually performed by the company itself… phew!

But, even the network marketing/direct sales business model has its requirements… you still need to be a marketer, a sales person, a manager and a leader, along with various other rolls.

What I’ve observed is that the people who have succeeded, including myself, are the people who are able to accomplish two things.

First, they take full responsibility for their weaknesses and areas where they need help.

Second, they find a ’team’ to support them, train them and to guide them each step of the way.

I am not talking about the hoards of ‘trainings’ out on the internet today… I am talking about a true team, with true leaders and training systems in place.  And these trainings and systems are included with the team… not something people have to go out and pay additional money for…  In my experience, when someone has to go outside of their team in order to find support, they are not going to make it very far with that business.

2) Professional v. Entrepreneurial Mindset

Your Mindset controls your destiny… literally… and as an employee, this concept is utterly foreign.  As an employee, you simply do as you are told, fill the role you are taught to fill, and you just move through the motions each and every day.  I know… I did it my entire professional career, and looking back, I cannot recall a single business associate who had any inkling about what “personal development” or “self-growth” was all about…

However, entrepreneurs are keenly aware of the fact that your mindset is how you THINK about things and what you BELIEVE, and that your thinking and believing is what controls your destiny.

In my experience, employers simply DO NOT encourage personal development or self-growth.  Probably because if they did, their employees would realize that they could do much better for themselves by being their own bosses!

I have come to realize that starting your own business is probably the greatest personal development journey you will ever embark upon. You can take all the right steps, and if your mindset isn’t right, you still won’t achieve what you want.  It makes it difficult to actually follow your dreams.

Self Confidence and Belief in Yourself/Your Business

One of the most important mindsets for an entrepreneur is that of Self-Confidence.  You have to believe in yourself, in your ability to succeed, and you also must believe in what it is you have to offer.

Self confidence is key.

If you don’t believe in what you do 110%, and in it’s ability to make a real difference in your prospect’s lives, then you are going to have a very difficult time convincing anyone else.

You must believe it first.

And sometimes, it’s hard to believe it when you’ve never done it before… when you’ve never experienced success at it… when you’ve never seen it ‘really’ work for you… and when everyone else around you is telling you that you are crazy and that it will never work… that you should simply stay in your job making a steady paycheck…

But, if you let those limiting thoughts take control of you, it will mean utter doom for your business.  You must take steps daily to confirm your belief in yourself, in your ability to succeed, and in the integrity of your business and its ability to truly help others.

Conquering Fear

The only difference between the people who are succeeding and the people who are still struggling to find success is that those people who are successful don’t let fear stand in their way.  Successful people may indeed feel the fear, but they don’t let it paralyze them…. they act in spite of the fear… they let it go and push through.

It’s the people who consistently let go of their fear who eventually become successful in their business.

Recognize that there will be mistakes along the way, they are simply part of the journey.  And instead of getting discouraged because things don’t go the way you planned, and instead of labeling things as mistakes, simply accept things as being exactly as they are supposed to be, and figure out what lessons you can learn from them.

Just realize that fear is a natural part of growing, and there may be a few bumps and twists and curves along the way, but simply keep moving forward.   Let go of the fear, let go of the expectations, and look for the lessons.

Consistently applying this mindset will enable you to completely transform your business.

I’ve been there. I know what it’s like. And I still move through fear every day.  And one of the keys to being able to move through the fear, in addition to helping you believe in yourself, is to have an incredible support group.  Before finding my support group, my ‘team,’ I was having a very difficult time working through my fear and believing in myself.  But I’ve found that with their continuous, unwavering support, I’ve been able to push through the fear and find the self-confidence I needed to make my business successful.

So, in order to truly succeed with your own business, you absolutely must have a support system in place.   That support system will help guide you through learning the necessary skill set for owning your own business, and it will be instrumental in the personal growth you must experience in order to develop the right mindset to be successful.  Click here to read the Key to Partnership in Business, which helps solidify the importance of establishing a true support system.

Why You Need a Gravatar!

Do you have your Gravatar?

If you don’t, you need to get it ASAP!  Unless, of course, you’d rather remain incognito when making any comments on another person’s blog… I, for one, would love to put a face with a comment, and so I would love it if you DID get yourself a Gravatar!

gravatar insignia

Why get a Gravatar?

First, other people can now SEE your face and put a face with a name.

This helps tremendously in building credibility and trust.  I don’t know about you… but I am a little bit leery of the faceless comments I sometimes get!  And I am much more apt to want to learn more about someone who comments on my blog if I can actually see their face on their comment.

Second, it helps you build your online presence.

When someone else sees your comment on a blog, they are much more likely to take a look at your blog post link (provided the blog you are commenting on has the ability for you to link back to your blog, a very helpful incentive for people to make lots of comments on your blog).

The result, you have a much better chance of gaining traffic back to YOUR blog!

How to add a Gravatar…

1. Go to www.gravatar.com and click on “Get Your Gravatar Today.”   Then, input the email that you want associated with your Gravatar.

2. Check your email for a confirmation that you signed up, and then you will be able to set up your password and Gravatar picture.

3. All done!  Now, all of your comments will include your Gravatar picture – as long as you share that comment with the email associated with that Gravatar picture.

If you would like a visual on how to add a Gravatar, check out this helpful Gravatar video:  “Do You Have an Avatar? You Must!

Just always make sure to provide VALUABLE comments— provide value, support, encouragement, gratitude— all of the things you would love to receive in your own blog.  Be true and sincere and honest and come from the heart.  This, in combination with your Gravatar, will help you gain exposure and credibility in any blog or blogging community you are participating in…  And at the same time, you will gain more exposure, traffic and credibility to YOUR blog.

As always, I love to hear any feedback, comments or questions… please share below! In addition, if you feel this was helpful to you, please pass the post along to any of your friends out there on Facebook or Twitter (or anywhere you’d like!).  It is always truly appreciated!

Now, go get your Gravatar!

A Simple Exercise that will Change Your Life

I had a wonderful experience this weekend which reminded me about the importance of losing judgment and developing compassion, both for yourself and others.  As usual… the reminder came from my 3 year old daughter…

We all know people who constantly pass judgment on others… In fact, we have all been conditioned our entire lives to judge people, events and circumstances.

But… when you bring an end to all this judgment…  you also bring an end to a very negative aspect of your life.

If you understand the importance of what I’m about to tell you, you will absolutely change the way you live your life in a very positive manner.

In order to bring an end to judgment, you must do a very simple but profound action on all levels of thought, word and deed….

All you have to do to move out of ‘judgment’ is to move into ‘gratitude’ with certainty and persistence.

Be grateful for everything that shows up in your life instead of judging everything that shows up in your life.

Start right now by being grateful for the beauty and wonder of you.   Stop judging yourself (and often finding yourself unworthy) and be grateful for the beautiful person you are.

And then, be grateful for everything that happens in your life.

My little girl expresses gratitude for EVERYTHING that touches her life… she expresses it constantly to me, to her daddy, to her brother, to her friends, and to complete strangers.  She sees everything as a wonderful miracle, and gives big thanks to everyone she can, whenever she can.  Of course, the Thank You’s come with big, sincere hugs, which make everyone’s heart just melt.

This weekend, she took all her Easter Eggs and hid them in our neighbor’s yard, so that her little friend next door “wouldn’t be sad.”  She was so grateful for the Easter Bunny bringing her something, that she wanted to share that happiness with someone else.   She also wanted to send the Easter Bunny a thank-you card…

The picture above is from our walk this morning… she was blowing dandelions and making wishes.  And I am incredibly grateful for every moment I get to spend with her.

Isn’t this a simple exercise to implement?  Watch what wonders unfold in  your life as you practice it on a daily, consistent basis.  I would love to hear about your journey and experiences in letting go of judgment and expressing gratitude—- let me know in the comments section below!!

Have a beautiful, amazing day…. I am grateful for you!

In love & light-

Online Presence Tips to Help Build Your Home Business Online

By now you may have realized that the Internet is a pretty nifty tool that you can use to  help you build your home business online… but, you aren’t sure just exactly HOW to use the Internet to accomplish this goal…

Following are a few tips to help get you started in the right direction of using the Internet to help build your home business online.

build your home business online

Tips to Build Your Home Business Online:

First and foremost…  DO NOT SPAM your business opportunity all over the Internet.

That is the most certain way to ensure that NO ONE will want to learn more about you or about what you do.   In fact, they will most assuredly DELETE you.

Instead, there are two ways to build your online presence to create positive experiences to cause people to want to pay attention to you and seek you out –

I call them the “push & pull”:

  • Push—you are giving free advice and providing value – you are ‘pushing’ content to people.
  • Pull – you are proactive and firmly aggressive with building connections (and thus being able to provide value) with everyone.  Pro-actively do this.  Build your network.

More on the Push: We live in an age of engagement.  People love the push—create positive experiences with anyone that you can.  Provide them with value.  Don’t promote yourself through selling, do it through service.  BUILD VALUE.  Devote one hour per day to create content.  Go full-out.  Get over any self-consciousness about creating content.  Just do it!

More on the Pull:  There are two ways to reach the market and build connections:

1)      Paying for traffic, and

2)      Syncing yourself up to generate free traffic:

-write articles

-do videos

-posts on social media sites, like twitter and facebook

- link EVERYTHING back to your blog

- and the KEY:   “Consistency Attracts”

The key to reaching  more people and developing a true network and following is CONSISTENCY.

You are either consistent or you are nonexistent.

Really, there are two groups of people trying to build a home business online:

1) 99% of the people fall into the “Moments of Brilliance” category, and

2) 1% fall into the Consistent category.

Guess who ends up successfully building a network of followers and therefore a successful home business online…?

So, how can you be consistent?  One of the best ways is to create a content plan for the next 30 days.  Call it your 30 Day Content Plan.  Write it down.  When you put it into writing, it is a plan and action steps, and it becomes so much easier to follow and implement.

Write down what articles you plan to write, what social media posts you plan to post, what videos you plan to shoot, and put it down on paper.  Use it as a plan to move forward.  After the initial 30 days, you will be in a pattern, a habit, and everything will just start rolling naturally.  Content creation will become a daily habit for you.

When creating your content, try to spend 30 minutes to an hour a day.  Don’t give yourself much longer than that… Magic happens through short bursts of focused action… (click here to read an article by Heidi Hurd, “Only One Hour a Day” to realize how effective this really is…)

Set aside all distractions and focus, and you’ll be able to create some great content.

Need some ideas on HOW to create content…?  Click HERE to read an article by Heather Calhoun on”How to Generate Ideas.”

Hopefully these few tips will help get you started in the right direction of building your home business online.

To your limitless success!

xo

I’d love to hear your thoughts and online business experiences that you’ve had…

What’s Up With all of the Social Media Gurus?

Have you noticed that there are hundreds and hundreds of “Social Media Gurus” everywhere in the online world of network marketing?

Do you wonder why there are so many social media gurus?

I mean really….how can there be THAT MANY gurus?

The answer is simple:  they are not really social media gurus or online marketing gurus…however, they proclaim themselves to be gurus because that is what they are told they MUST do in order to build a successful network marketing business online.

They are being TAUGHT to call themselves social media gurus… to fake it till they make it, basically…

And how do I know this, you may ask?

I know because I trained with those Social Media Gurus and Online Marketing Gurus…

When I first started learning about marketing my home business online, I spent $1,000’s and $1,000′s of dollars on “training” programs from those very Guru’s to learn how to market my network marketing business on the Internet (I was brand new, and very naïve… a story for another day), and you know what the training programs taught me to do…?

You guessed it… they taught me to tell the online world of desperate network marketers that I was one of those social media gurus… and that I could teach them how to succeed in building their network marketing business…

Well… I spent my entire time watching and listening to trainings… and I NEVER FELT COMFORTABLE titling myself as one of the social media gurus…

It just didn’t sit right… it was not genuine, it was not honest, it was not transparent… and I had no way of implementing the trainings… while I had a ‘funnel”, I had no real business system to support that funnel…

Neither do 99% of the social media gurus out there…

How can they?

You see, while credibility is certainly an issue… the real problem is that network marketing is all about DUPLICATION…

What YOU do must be able to be duplicated by your team…

So, if you are being taught to claim that you are one of the elite social media gurus, well, then it stands to reason that you’re entire network marketing organization is going to be claiming the same thing…

Hmmmm…. This sounds like a problem to me, how about you?

And the most mind boggling part of all… if you dig deeper into what is really going on… most of the people that are positioning themselves as the social media gurus aren’t even building a business by this method…. Actually, most of them aren’t even building their so called ‘primary’ business…

Instead, these social media gurus are preying on struggling network marketers.

The gurus have lost faith in the network marketing industry, and they are now in the business of selling ‘products’ and ‘trainings’ and ‘membership sites’ and ‘affiliate marketing’ and anything else they can think of to desperate network marketers… they are a PRIME market to target… they will buy almost anything if they believe it will help them grow their business.

And any primary business that the gurus may have originally been involved with is now completely on the back burner, if on any burner at all… but they don’t tell you this as they promote their “MUST HAVE” products and trainings…

This is yet another reason why network marketers fail so miserably… they are taught to do things that do not work in building their business… but the guru’s selling the products and services are making plenty of money… by selling the products and the trainings, not by building the underlying business… and certainly not by teaching anyone how to truly build their underlying business…

I don’t know about you… but I fell in love with the network marketing business model… with the concept of building a residual income for life with one company…

You can’t do that if you follow the social media gurus model – instead, you get taken into a land of creating products and trainings and promoting affiliate links –  a far cry from the business you set out to build.   A great friend with a tremendously successful home business, and ONLY a home business… no affiliate stuff, no product stuff, just a single, true home business, wrote a wonderful article about home business income. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Mom’s Monday Motivation – 2/21/2011- Everything You Want is Just Outside Your Comfort Zone

The comfort zone can be a trap for the unweary… Being an entrepreneur and having your own home business is not necessarily an ‘easy’ thing to accomplish.  Interestingly, it’s not the ‘work’ itself that is difficult to master, but rather, it’s the mindset.  Being an entrepreneur takes a certain kind of mindset in order to truly succeed.

You see, if your mindset isn’t in order…you probably are not going to be able to overcome the difficult obstacles EVERYONE faces when starting their own home business.

The home business industry is not a cake walk… You WILL be challenged.

You will be forced to step out of your comfort zone, and your fears and insecurities will be tested.

The silver lining is that once you move out of your comfort zone and work through those obstacles, you will able to experience real growth.  And we need growth in order to get better at what we do… we wouldn’t be able to succeed without growth.

So, when you have to learn a new skill, or figure out a new system, or overcome a fear, dive right in and embrace it!  It will be exactly what you need at that time to further grow and develop. And the more YOU grow, the more your business will grow.

Have the mindset that you are going to move out of your comfort zone and charge through any adversity, and that nothing will stop you from reaching your goal.  When that is your mindset, you can dive into entrepreneurship head first and just plow through obstacles to move forward.

Being an entrepreneur means KNOWING you are able to be an entrepreneur.  If you don’t have that mindset, then take some time to build your confidence, to build your value, and build your belief in yourself.  Invest in growing yourself as a person.  When you really dedicate yourself to personal development and earnestly work to grow within yourself, amazing things can happen…

People, situations, and events will come into your life to encourage further growth and development…

And you will be able to manifest success more easily than you ever could before.

Just remember… anything and everything you want is just outside of your comfort zone.

Go get ‘em!

How The Law of Diminishing Intent can Sabotage Your Business

Have you ever heard of the Law of Diminishing Intent?

Well, it’s what happens when you intend to take action on something and then you postpone (for whatever reason…), and then you postpone again…. and again… it’s actually called procrastinating, and it can completely sabotage your business because the likelihood of you taking action grows smaller and smaller the longer you procrastinate….

Law of Diminishing Intent

Its called the “Law of Diminishing Intent.”

I had a fuzzy idea about this phenomenon based on my own practical experience… (yep, I can procrastinate with the best of them!)… but I really see the Law of Diminishing Intent impacting the people I work with on a daily basis.

The people who dive-in head first, no hesitation, are the people who are able to create really successful businesses, and the people who sit back on the sidelines until the timing is ‘just right,’ well, they never really seem to make their businesses succeed… in fact, they rarely seem to make it past the first step.  The Law of Diminishing Intent completely stops them from moving forward.

“The time to act is when the idea is hot and the emotion is strong. Take action as soon as possible, before the feeling passes and before the idea dims. We intend to take action when the idea strikes us. We intend to do something when the emotion is high. But if we don’t translate that intention into action fairly soon, the urgency starts to diminish. A month from now the passion is cold. A year from now it can’t be found.” “The Time to Act”Jim Rohn

The Law of Diminishing Intent is something that impacts every single entrepreneur, everywhere, every single day… and this includes YOU and ME.

Bottom line: if an opportunity lands in your lap, you MUST take action on it IMMEDIATELY, or you know what?  You got it…. the Law of Diminishing Intent means you probably NEVER WILL, and that means you will never attain the success you so badly desire.  And that’s what we’re all here for, isn’t it?

And if you need more of a nudge, go read my post on Just Do It!

To your limitless success… now!

xo

Christine

I’d love to hear about your experiences with the Law of Diminishing Intent and what steps you take to make sure it doesn’t happen to you!

Facebook Pages for Marketing – Quick Tips

If you are just starting out on Facebook as a marketing tool for your home business, here are a few quick tips on using Facebook pages.

facebook pages

First, keep in mind that Facebook is one ‘spoke’ in the wheel of social media marketing.

You should have a couple of Facebook pages in order for Facebook to be successfully integrated into your overall marketing plan.

When you first start using Facebook pages in your social media marketing plan, there are a few things to consider:  1) should you have a ‘Profile Page’?  2) should you have a ‘Fan Page’?  3) should you wait to have a Fan Page until you have a significant following on your Profile Page? 4) what should you post on your Facebook Pages?

Profile Page:

This is your ‘friend’ Facebook page.  Think of it as your ‘personal’ page.  It is a two-way post. Both you and your friends can post on your Profile Page wall.

You can build a following of up to 5,000 friends.

Once you start implementing Facebook as a marketing tool for your business, you will realize the ‘value’ of these first 5,000 positions on your profile page… (i.e., you really won’t want ‘friends’ who play Farmville, etc., all day long).   Build up those first 5,000 as quickly as you can..

DO NOT SPAM your opportunity on your Facebook pages!  Rather, follow the 90/10 rule:  give pure value at least 90% of the time, and only do any promoting 10% of the time.

Fan Page:

This is your ‘business’ Facebook page.  Think of it as your ‘promotional’ page.

An unlimited amount of people can ‘Like’ your Fan Page.

Think about having a professional headshot done for your Facebook Fan Page.  And make sure it is a picture of YOU. Nothing alienates friends or fans more quickly than a profile picture of something other than your face… don’t use your dog, don’t use a cartoon… people like to connect with people, and the best way to accomplish that online is by seeing a clear picture of you.

As with the Profile Page, even though this is considered a “promotional” type of page, still follow the 90/10 rule.

When you post on your Facebook pages, it will do you much more good to provide 90% value instead of spamming your business.  The more value that you offer freely to your friends and fans, the more people are going to want to follow you.  (see post on “Online Presence Tips For Home Business Success“)

As for ’when’ to start your Facebook fan page, you will find conflicting advice…  I believe it depends upon how ‘ready’ you are to take on the task.  If you are full of ideas on how to add value, then by all means get both your Profile Page and Fan Page going.  If you are just starting to dip your toes into the Facebook world, then maybe you should just start with a Profile Page.  Once you get comfortable using your Profile Page and making friends and consistently adding value, then you should add your Fan Page.  (For some REALLY good reasons on why you should use a Fan Page, visit Heidi Hurd’s “Living the Inspired Life” blog, where she explains why it’s so important: 10 Reasons to Start A Facebook Fan Page)

Whatever course you choose… just make sure to update your Pages regularly.  As with all Social Media Marketing… consistency is key for your Facebook pages success!

To Your Unlimited Success!

Mom’s Monday Motivation – 2/7/2011 – Why You Should Believe In Others

For this week’s Mom’s Monday Motivation, I wanted to share a video clip from Viktor E. Frankl, the author of Man’s Search for Meaning, which is one of my absolute favorite books.

In his book, Frankle explains his experiences in concentration camps  during a 5 year period, and he outlines the struggle he went through to keep finding reasons to live.

In this amazing short video, Frankl explains that the meaning of life is has absolutely nothing to do with money, social status or even physical appearance. Rather, the primary motivating force in life is meaning and purpose… and then he explains why believing in other people is the greatest gift we can give:  “If we take man as he is, we’ll make him worse. But if we take man as he should be, we make him capable of becoming all that he can be.”

When we believe in the best in others, we give them the ability to believe in themselves and thus to become what they are principally capable of becoming.

Make it a habit to examine the people in your life, the people that you love, the people that you work with, the people that you are surrounded by, and  let them know that you believe in them and why you believe in them.  By sharing with them why you believe in them, you will be giving them an amazing gift.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Frankl’s message!  Has there been someone in your life that believed in you and as a result helped you reach your potential?  Make sure to leave me a comment below and let me know!

Have a wonderful week… I believe in you!

hugs-

Christine

Mom’s Monday Motivation – 1/24/2011 – Live in the Present Moment – An Amazing Story

One of my favorite authors is Eckhart Tolle… his books include ”The Power of Now” and ”A New Earth”… and in these books, he articulates beautifully the concept of living in the present moment, of accepting whatever is happening to you at that moment, of letting go…  all life changing concepts that leave you unable to view life the same ever again…

It’s the implementation of the concept of living in the present moment that I sometimes find myself stumbling on…

And I just recently stumbled upon a true story, which you may have already heard about, and if you haven’t, then you absolutely must read about it now:

CLICK HERE TO READ AN INCREDIBLY INSPIRATIONAL STORY

This is just the transcript of an interview with an amazing woman, Laura Munson, where she takes us step-by-step through a life crisis, and she explains how she applied the universal principals like those explained by Eckhart Tolle… most specifically living in the present moment, and how it impacted her life…

I think almost everyone will be able to relate to her story in one way or another…

You owe it to yourself to take a look…

Let me know what you think… and make sure to share it with others!

Big, big hugs,

Christine

To Brand or Not To Brand… What is Attraction Marketing, Anyway?

There is a huge movement in the online industry to ‘brand’ yourself through the concept of “attraction marketing.”

In order to build your home business using the internet, everyone is telling you that you must ‘brand’ yourself,  typically at the cost of focusing on your business first…

People get completely caught up in the idea of ‘building their brand,’ and they lose sight of ‘building their business’ because they are so confused about what it means to build a brand…  I mean, really, what DOES it mean?  What is Attraction Marketing?

When I first heard about the concept of attraction marketing and  ’branding,’ I was really confused.

Turns out I’m not the only person who has been confused by the branding concept….

Let me try to explain the concept in a way that makes a bit more sense…  and if I can succeed in enlightening you, it may actually help you realize exactly what it is you need to be doing to actually build your home business online SUCCESSFULLY.

First, my initial understanding of ‘attraction marketing‘ (along with countless others out there), was that I needed to Brand Myself… and this meant:

I needed to make myself larger than life…

I needed to give myself some wonderful title….

I needed to claim that I was the ‘leader’ my prospects were looking for….

and then…

PRESTO… people would flock to me and be begging to join my business…

Well, it took a bit of going in circles before I learned that that’s not what the concept of attraction marketing really meant…

Attraction Marketing is all about seeking out, facilitating communication, and offering value.

It is not about making yourself into something larger thank life, ‘attractive,’ and then waiting for the flocks to be magnetized to you…

You have to take action, and you have to take it in a way that provides value to everyone you come into contact with.  You have to create contacts and you have to engage with those contacts.  (See my post ”Online Presence Tips For Home Business Success” for some tips).

It’s about taking action to seek out and find those people that you can provide value to, and then providing them with the value.

If you’re just beginning, and you’re not quite sure how to provide value, then simply start working on building the expertise and results for the areas of value you will eventually be sharing…

As you discover and learn new things, and as you make new successes, SHARE THEM.

Once you’ve done that consistently, your brand is your experience and your expertise, and people will start seeking out how to work closer with you.

So….

Don’t build the ‘brand,’ but instead, build the skill, share the knowledge, and the natural by-product will be your brand…

The person who sits back trying to figure out ‘what’ their ‘brand’ is… tries to come up with fancy titles to ‘build their brand’… ends up simply wasting precious time.. .

Get out there, make contacts, and provide value!  That’s what attraction marketing REALLY is!

To Your MAGNETIC  Success!!

P.S.  I’d love to hear about any experiences you have had in the area of attraction marketing and branding, let me know below!
