What would it take to make you happy, to give you true happiness? A thriving business, a fulfilling career, the perfect significant other or a large bank account? What if it didn’t take anything to make you happy? What if you could experience happiness from the inside out — no matter what is going on in your life?.
True happiness happens from the inside out.
Being happy for no reason is the key to everything in life. Really.
True happiness does not come from outside sources– as much as we are all conditioned throughout our lives, happiness does not come from wealth, material items, things you have, control over others, fame, or being ‘better’ or ‘stronger’ than anyone else…
True happiness comes from within yourself.
It sounds so simple, and yet it’s s
o rarely realized.
My daughter is the best example of true happiness that I’ve ever seen– she truly is happy for no reason. No matter what’s happening— either to her or to everyone else around her– she maintains a smile and hug and a big “I Love You!” for everyone. Rarely, you will glimpse a tiny frown… (as seen in her picture here…), but it lasts only a moment, and it is soon replaced by giggles and hugs. I’m sure only being 3 years old helps with the happiness scale… but just watching her helps me realize the power we all have within.
The single most powerful tool I’ve found for helping me find my happiness from within is that of taking responsibility for the way I feel. This includes taking responsibility for every aspect of my life. I have to admit that there are times that I really have to work hard at it– realizing that I don’t have to look to anyone else or any outside situation to make me feel happy (or unhappy) has made a world of change in my outlook on life and on my happiness level.
You are responsible for your happiness or unhappiness and whether you know it or not, no one else has the power to make you unhappy or happy unless you give it to them.
Keep that power yourself.
Hugs–

Beautiful Christine! I am surrounded by little kids all the time and it is so true, you really do see their emotions displayed right as they happen. It is something that I have been working on for awhile, and this really does give me inspiration and drive to improve my posture. Thank you!!

Hi Jackie!
Children are the most amazing blessing…. to see the world through the eyes of a child has been one of the incredible bonuses of being a mom…
Love hearing from you– thanks so much for visiting!

I couldn’t agree with you more… the control for your happiness is in your hands unless you opt to hand it over to someone else! Such a beautiful and well thought out post… kids are sometimes the most remarkable little creatures to learn from! Thanks for the wonderful reminder and a great way to start my week:)

What a fabulous post! I think my secret nickname is “Miss Sunshine”, because I smile a lot, and I find joy in my everyday life. I have always been a “glass half full” kind of gal and that is a great way to live.
Not every part of my life has been sunshine and daisies. I’ve had problems, like everyone else. The biggest thing is how you deal with your problems. Do you let them consume you and drag you into a pit of despair, or do you wallow for a short while and then pull yourself up and look for the good in your life?
I do ‘allow’ myself to be unhappy. For a SHORT time only! Then I do the things that bring me joy. I call my friends, I scrapbook, I read a chick-lit book, I have a bubble bath, I go visit some friends. Surrounding yourself with the things that make you happy you will find you can handle any problem.
This is what I have found in the quest to finding my own true happiness: it is most important to make time for yourself. (I know we hear this phrase a lot, but who really does it? ME!) I do things for and with my family all of the time, but I also do things just for me. Refreshing my spirit helps me to be the joyful, happy person that I am!
Have a whimsically wonderful day!
Alice.

Alice,
You are such a treat! I adore your blog, and I truly appreciate your wonderful comments! I can see why your secret nickname is “Miss Sunshine”
I couldn’t agree with you more… refreshing your spirit is so very important, and so few people actually take the time to do it! I think you are a shining example of just how well it works…
Thank you for such an uplifting note!

It is so easy to blame others and become the victim when you are unhappy. Thank you for writing such an inspirational post. This simple concept is so hard sometimes. We ARE powerful and our thoughts and confidence in ourselves makes such a difference.

Hi Heather!
It is undeniable how much power we take back for ourselves when we stop blaming others. This simple concept can definitely be hard to implement… but with practice and awareness, it becomes easier and easier.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I truly appreciate you

Hi Christine!
I’ve only been following your blog for a short while, but HAVE to reply to happiness coming from the inside… I’ve been saying this for years! One you become happy, everything else falls into place… it’s almost magical!
My recommendation is for people to watch or read The Secret – I’ve been watching this on a semi-regular basis for years now, and once you master the concept, it does amazing things for you, your quality of life, and even your finances =).
Thanks for posting this! I shared it on my Facebook profile! Love it!
I hope you’re having a great week!

Hello Jen!
So wonderful to have you stopping by!
And I couldn’t agree with you more— everyone should watch/read The Secret! It is the book that opened the door for me… once you read it/watch it, you are able to see the world in an entirely different way, and it is almost magical how everything seems to fall into place!
Thank you so much for sharing your insights and thoughts, and especially for sharing on Facebook! I truly appreciate it!
Have a wonderful week!

Hey Christine, Thanks for this post! Here’s something I recommend when feeling down. LOOK UP. I mean physically, look up. It is almost impossible to cry when you’re looking up!
